Have you encountered a problem and realized you’ve run out of answers? Perhaps the same solutions that seemed to serve you well in the past are no longer working for you. Are you living the life you want to live, or do you find yourself preoccupied with your past experiences and/or worries about your future? If so, please know that you are not alone.

Let’s face it: as glorious a gift as life is, it presents many challenges. It is likely the case that anyone, at some point in his/her life, would benefit from a course of psychotherapy, whether because of the pressure of immediate life concerns or due to longstanding feelings of dissatisfaction. While friends and family members can be very comforting and supportive, many people find that they wish for an objective, confidential, and nonjudgmental ear to hear their concerns.

Effective psychological care can help one learn new stress management and self-care techniques, improve self-concept, and develop insight into repetitive patterns of thinking, feeling, or relating to others. Psychotherapy can address current difficulties or help patients embark on a journey of greater understanding of themselves and the elements of life that inspire joy.

Many people don’t seek psychological care because of privacy concerns. Increasingly, Americans’ health records are being shared with the federal government, within states, and within community agencies, private and public.

This third-party free practice offers private care that is also free of the demands of government and private health insurers — care that is based on your needs, not on the dictates of insurance companies and government programs.

While the benefit of psychological care is more broadly respected than in years past, there is still, unfortunately, a stigma associated with seeking such treatment. This practice will not share records with anyone without your written authorization, except in rare conditions (court order or government audit, for example).

Insurance companies are concerned with reducing their bottom line, and so they are hoping to reduce Americans’ access to mental health treatment.

But what third party payers don’t seem to realize is that psychological care can be a boon to not only one’s emotional well-being, but to one’s physical health. Numerous empirical studies have demonstrated the link between emotional and physical health.

Until government and private insurers recognize and respect this relationship, patients using insurance companies will continue to experience limitations on, and intrusions into, their mental health care.
